Week I: The Beginning

Since I registered for this class, I knew it was going to be an interesting one. Chapter 1 of Life Smart is an excellent introduction for anyone researching this topic. The chapter starts out with a basic rundown on what Lifespan Development is. In a nutshell it's the branch of psychology that focuses on the development of humans throughout different times in their lives (ie. childhood, adolescence, ect..) The opening chapter then goes into the changes in how Lifespan Development throughout the years, like the changing view on children and the complex view on adolescent psychology. The rest of the chapter then covers the different research views, interactions, issues and research on the topic. What looked the most familiar to me was when they were going over the different types of research and the steps they used. Coming from a science background, the scientific process has been all but drilled into my head. Along with my science background, I have always had an affinity for the social sciences so it was a nice callback to previous psychology and sociology classes I've taken in the past. Needless to say, it also added on to my previous topical psychology knowledge. I am definitely looking forward to see what new and interesting information this class has to offer!
